Went to see Juno last night. Wouldn't have thought it'd be my kind of thing -- teenage pregnancy etc -- but it was fab. Highly recommend it.

I must see it so. Have a friend who said he was totally unmoved by it - cold-hearted bastard. ;-) Apparently, the film misrepresented things a bit. The wife was less devoted in reality and the girlfriend the real support. Pissed people off in reality.

I'm almost afraid to read the book :-)
The film is a triumph. It's not just the story but the incredible technique he employs to tell it. Its a long time since I've seen a film where you are hurled so..violently...into the character's predicament right from the first few seconds. I think I was weeping one minute in :-)
A must-see.

Sarah,

I wanted to watch the french version but I went online on amazon.fr and before Christmans I was ordering some books and went into autopilot and entered the name without going back out into DVD and so I got the book version instead. I read it over Christmas

http://fichefocal.blogspot.com/2008/01/le-scaphandre-et-le-papillon.html

It is a beautiful beautiful book. There were parts where it was terribly touching and sad, but overall I came away uplifted because it drove home the point that we always take for granted - how precious time is, especially with our loved ones.

The film is supposed to be very beautiful and visually stunning (Shnabel was apparently an artist for many years before starting to making films).

I'm looking forward to the film. This time I better click on DVD!
