I voted

Posted in Domestic/Relationships at 10:56 am by Sarah

It’s best to do it early. Just in case I take some kind of seizure and die later in the the day. At least they’ll have my vote.

So, I did

GG 1, English 2, Higgins 3

So if GG does shite and gets eliminated his vote will go to Damo if he hasn’t made the quota and onto Higgins if Damo has been elected.

If GG is eliminated and English has been elected already and Higgins has also been eliminated, then what?

Out of principal I gave 4 and 5 to Labour and Green and 6 to the Independent Cantwell but in reality if GG and Higgins are out then so are those guys.

So the vote that will really count is the no. 7.

I was left with the FnFers, Sinn Fein and Father’s Rights guy.

Chances are that third seat will boil down to a fight between Johnny Brady and Joe Reilly of Sinn Fein. Dempsey will be the poll topper and won’t need the vote so I gave it to Brady. I’d rather he was elected than the Shinnor.

You know Jim Mitchell’s elimination elected FF Dermot Fitzpatrick in the last election? Put him ahead of the Shinnor. See you have to think hard about where your vote might travel.

On the downside my father and I watched people going into the polling station. The FnFers are coming out of the graves to vote. On the upside people are ringing us for guidance so the FGers aren’t taking any chances either. All to play for.

Are you saying there is personating in progress? Can you not call the police?

oh no sorry – just a turn of phrase. they are ALL out. You know, people you didn’t see in 10 years and they arrive like ghosts to cast their vote…

Oh right. I’ve come to associate the use of the words “graves” and “voting” to mean personation!

He is committed – he’d be a solid backbench constituency type rather than ministerial material. His wife is a piece of work though. WELL clued in. Its a two for the price of one job.

    Hi sarah

Could you give me an example of his commitment? I’m going to vote later and all I know about GG is that he played for Meath. Please give me a more solid reason to vote for GG!

hmm, of course he hasn’t been elected yet so hasn’t been able to do anything! However, I can tell you two things:

    1. Prior to his entry into the election he spent most of his spare time attending schools and youth sporting events. He is absolutely brilliant with children and he’d give out prizes and do practice training sessions with them. In fact when the sister was out canvassing with him at schools, Graham was spending time with the kids instead of plamassing the mothers. I thought that was nice.

    2. I believe he would concentrate his efforts on helping people in disadvantages areas

    3. His wife is the real political brains. Its a two for the price of one job.

Isn’t his wife from a real FF family? Good on her!

yeah. she is a niece of Paddy Duffy’s and Celia Larkin is her godmother! She knows Bertie really well. That’s why FnF were so pissed off when GG joined FG instead :-)

Hi Sarah. I’m looking forward to the counting bit and John Bowman in ecstasy on RTE! PR is such fun. Thank goodness those feckin’ electronic voting machines don’t work. More suspense.

You can tune into me on The Last Word tomorrow between 4-7. They’ve got serious number crunchers in but Terry Prone and I are providing the chat:-) Should be fun.

Sarah — who will Cooper vote for? What about Hook?

I don’t know! I often wonder what the score is. Should they tell? I guess it would undermine their credibility if they did. I have none anyway so no point in keeping up a pretence :-) Hook, you have think FnF don’t you? Cooper I have no idea but..I dunno Labour? I don’t trust anyone frankly. They’re ALL suspect in my book :-)

    ever think of running yourself?

Hook admitted on air a couple of years ago that he was a Blueshirt.

Given that media presenters and journalists have an influence over the direction people will vote, I actually think it’s crucial that journalists admit their political intentions, as it makes bias more obvious – it’s easier to read in the print media, but very hard to tell which political inclination of the radio / tv journalists are of, unless there is something strikingly obvious.

They have asked me several times to run but I say no. It’s too much hard work! Bloody hell – 7 days a week, get turfed out at any election and nothing but abuse in between. I think they’re all great and mad.

Hook a blueshirt. Hurrah! At least there’s one in there :-)
