Deposit interest rates

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:42 pm by Sarah

Thanks to George Lee of RTE for referencing this link. See page 2 before you decide where to put your money. Am so glad I put our SSIA into Anglo-Irish and out of the EBS. 4.25% against 1.05%!!! I knew Anglo-Irish was good but I didn’t realise EBS was SO bad.

Can’t get that pdf. Is Anglo-Irish the best place to open a deposit account so?

No, Rabo Direct gives 5% on amounts up to €10k.

Balances from €10k up to €1 million will get a variable rate of 3.75%.

So, if you have over €10k, put the balance/rest into Northern Rock @ 4.30%!!

Both the above are on-line demand accounts.

Great. Except with inflation above 5% you are actually losing money, even before you substract DIRT.
