Sleep Paralysis

Posted in Sunday Times Columns at 8:33 pm by Sarah

Sometimes I wonder why I bother with the blog and then you see something like this. Darren Barefoot linked to my night terrror style post. The response he got was amazing….

Here’s my original post (some of my old links are a bit funny, sorry about that Joe – I think connected with my server move).

And here’s the Wikipedia entry. So the crushing weight on the chest is not linked to the husband (and I have had the same sensation when he is at a safe distance).

Sarah, can you link to your original post? I can’t find it on your blog.

Just to be pedantic, “night terror” is also a specific complaint which is not the same as sleep paralysis:

Indeed. I used to have night terrors as a child….as usual I was aware of the conflict as I wrote but was too lazy to correct it. Although, I always dispute the descriptions of night terrors which say that the child hasn’t woken up. I always thought I was awake but I could still see the images and hear the voices and that’s what really scared the shit out of me. But because I was still hysterical I could see how adults would think I was actually still asleep.
