Another ridiculous effort from the RTE 9pm news. Put the McDowell apology and the BIZARRE Dail handshake on AFTER the break. Like what the f*ck is the editor at?
And Miriam had a reasonable go at him on Prime Time. She did ok but didn’t damage him. They should have had someone else on with him. He wouldn’t acknowledge that Ricky was right even tho Bertie did in the Dail today….

Funny you should say that, Sarah, because Pat Rabbitte had his invitation withdrawn at the last minute, according to Newstalk 106 and Rabbitte himself, because McDowell insisted he wouldn’t share the airtime with anybody else…just himself.
McDowell is a chicken-shit and deserves absolutely no sympathy from anybody.

I knew it! He dictates the format and everyone bends to his will. The one she should have killed him on was when he kept saying that he was a successful Minister for Justice, she should have tackled him with the detection rates. She also let him weasel out on the Frank Connolly issue when she asked him about leaking ” a secret Garda file” – he was able to say it wasn’t secret. But the Irish Examiner asked to see the rest of the file under an FOI request last week and they were refused and of course there is no FOI request on file from the Irish Independent. He fell back on his “citizen must have loyalty to the state” and he knew that that 20m and 30m of FARC Narco-terrorism money was being brought over to fight the election. Simple response – HOW do you know? (he will claim to have seen evidence) and then WHY can’t we see the evidence (if its not secet)?
My brief run of sympathy disappeared. He would have been better off skulking home and keep his head down for a few weeks. Stephen Collins gave him great advice on the News at One yesterday and he should have taken it. Resist the temptation to say something into every microphone you happen to walk by.

I’m wondering if all this was done to bury the report in standards at creches, and other childcare issues.
Fact is the Herald had a big picture of McDowell on Monday evening, a smaller one of Goebbels and tiny one of Richard, then he gets to go on Morning Ireland and get the apology out of the way at the start of the day, and finally gets 20 minutes to himself on Prime Time (in what seemed a poorly edited piece, how bad was the slicing). Shouldn’t Prime Time have ambushed him with Bruton?
