I believe constantly seeking validation from such mediocrity as the Irish Blogger Awards and Googling yourself is a strong indicator of Narcissistic Personality Disorder…
And it’s refreshing to know that a Google search has kept my Narcissistic Personality Disorder symptoms at bay by revealing that I am still the number 1, the one and only Dreaming Armadillo.
Actually someone with NPD believes they are invincible and right about everything and anyone who doubts them is wrong and should be fired or dead, depending on whether they are entrepreneurs and murderers.
Sarah — as a long time lurker on your site and someone who voted for you in the recent blog awards I feel compelled to finally comment. Let me preface by saying that I greatly enjoy your writin and I’m dreadfully sorry you didn’t win an award but I’m a little concerned at what appears to be a certain “bittnerness†creeping into your recent posts. I have read the blogs of all of the other nominees and winners and there certainly does seem to be a spirit of generosity and good cheer out there which appears to be sadly lacking on your own. GUBU is distinctive right now for not thanking judges and organisers nor ongratulating the other winners. Why is this so? Surely someone as refined and confident as yourself doesn’t need to continually post pleadings for affirmation?
For reference NPD is described as:
While grandiosity is the diagnostic hallmark of pathological narcissism, there is research evidence that pathological narcissism occurs in two forms, (a) a grandiose state of mind in young adults that can be corrected by life experiences, and (b) the stable disorder described in DSM-IV, which is defined less by grandiosity than by severely disturbed interpersonal relations.
I’ll look forward to your continuing valuable presence in cyberspace
Anyway, I’m sure that when we start the Election 2007 campaign “Vote Sarah Carey No.1″, your rightful place at the head of any google search will be secure.
Well maybe I don’t get it either and I’m a woman? It’s interesting to me that the first whit of criticism on gubu and the sisterhood is out in force to protect ms carey’s integrity — what isn’t there to “getâ€Â? I commend Mark for saying what I’m sure a number of readers have been thinking to themselves — you didn’t win a prize Sarah — get over it…grow up and at least have the grace to thank the people who nominated you, judged the categories, organised the event and oh yea — won! If you are going to be sarcastic about winning a spot prize then don’t accept it and let someone who will appreciate it and use it have it. You don’t seem to participate in any of the discussions on other blogs, I’ve never seen you comment elsewhere (I am mystified as to how you were nominated in the best commenter category in the awards — perhaps you could point us to a thread somewhere that you’ve participated in?) so I guess the rule for gubu is “love me, only me and come here and tell meâ€Â…How very sad…
Mark — I think you should post your comment on some of the other winners’ blogs, I’m sure they’ve given up reading gubu because of the bitter taste over here and they deserve to read what you say, it probably won’t be long before it disappears off this thread either.
woooooaaaaa. Now that’s bitter. Jeez Mark/Angela. I was only messing. Honestly…and really Angela, get a grip. What little set of rules says each blogger is obliged to read and leave a required number of comments on other blogs? Is there one where it says you shouldn’t leave personally abusive comments? I think I’d like that one….
Thank you Cyrille. Perhaps a little Buddhist wisdom before everything gets out of control….

You are absolutely right Angela but it is funny not sad. Of course it is sad on a deep profound level but mostly very very funny.
That said WHY ARE YOU SO MEAN TO POOR CRAZY SARAH?
Sarah what if you wear thick gloves?
